We first met Coco when my mom and I were checking on our kittens. We suddenly heard a tiny kitten crying, but it wasn’t one of ours. After looking around, I spotted an incredibly skinny little tortoiseshell kitten only about 200–250 grams and around 1.5 months old crying at us. To this day, it’s a miracle to me that she managed to climb all the way to our first-floor home by herself. At first, I honestly thought it was a rat because she was so tiny.

We gave her some food, and she immediately started eating like she hadn’t eaten in days. She was sneezing constantly, and since it was the rainy season in Bangalore, we thought it might just be a bad cold. We took her to the vet, where we received devastating news. She had three life-threatening infections: feline parvovirus (panleukopenia), a severe lung infection, and another infection that the vet said was even more dangerous than parvo.

The vet told us not to keep our hopes up, especially because she was a stray and so weak. We were told to prepare for the worst.

Since these diseases were highly contagious, we quarantined her in my room to protect our other cats and kittens. It was a long and emotional few months of medications, sleepless nights, syringe feeding, constant cleaning, and hoping she’d make it through one more day.

But Coco had other plans.

After months of treatment, she beat every single infection. Today she’s completely healthy, full of energy, and the sweetest little troublemaker. She’s now 4 months old and has gone from a tiny, fragile kitten to a very, *very* chonky girl. 🩵

Even though she spent so much of her kittenhood in isolation, she absolutely loves playing with our other kittens now. Watching her run around, wrestle, and zoom after them is something I never thought I’d get to see, and it makes every difficult day we went through worth it.

The first and last photos are proof of just how much she’s grown. I’m so proud of my little fighter.🥰
