To all MRT commuters, stand up BEFORE you alight

Discussion

Hi everybody, I know in Singapore, real estate is an very coveted, especially on our trains too. I know it feels great to be sitting down while everyone else is standing and you want to maximize your comfort all the way from the moment you sit to the moment you actually need to stand. I know you want to preserve the Singapore mindset of never lose, and to hold on to ‘your’ seat until it’s really time to leave.

But it is freaking annoying tor us boarding MRT commuters, who patiently wait for everyone to alight from the MRT, and then finally as we are able to go in or even in the process of going in the train, suddenly got some AHs like you who decide that “oh yes, now is the time for me to make my grand exit” and then suddenly stand up and rush to the door, causing a congestion and conflict in the flow of traffic. And even worse, still can show the entitled face that says “I’m alighting, let me out first”.

Bros and sis, uncles and aunties, your entire batch of passengers who alighted at this station left LONG ago already. They already made the deliberate effort to be ready and left the train as the train doors open, now it’s time for the ENTERING phase. The doors won’t wait for you, won’t wait for us, won’t wait for anyone. So once your train reaches your station already, and before the doors open, please start to stand up and get ready to alight. I guarantee you you won’t die, and you can still sleep at night. Don’t need pwn anyone, don’t need get pwned.

PS: the same also applies to buses, especially double decker buses. If you are only starting to alight and go down the stairs when the main rush is new passengers is already starting to go up the stairs, then I got bad news for you buddy
