idk name of this movie pls help me

I’m trying to identify a movie (or possibly a TV series) from one specific scene.
The story involves a young girl who is being assaulted by an adult man who is a close family friend.
The scene I know goes something like this: the man gives the little girl a towel as a gift. Later, her mother finds the towel and notices stains or something unusual on it that clearly indicates abuse . However, instead of understanding what it means—or perhaps because she’s in denial—she tells her daughter to keep using the towel for another week.
This is the only scene I clearly know, so I may have some details wrong. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
