22M Moroccan Living in Paris

Location: Europe

My name is Abu Umar, and I am 22 (born in 2003). I am undertaking this step with sincerity, seeking the one Allah has destined for me, the one with whom I will build a home filled with gentleness, serenity, and mercy, who will stand beside me through hardship and joy, in this life and the next. I pray to find her, إن شاء الله.

To me, marriage is an immense commitment before Allah ﷻ, a mercy and a mutual support toward good. My hope is to build a stable, peaceful home founded on the fear of Allah, attachment to the Qur'an and the Sunnah, loyalty, tenderness, and modesty.

Who I Am

I am naturally cheerful and easygoing, and I try to keep a good opinion of Allah in every situation. Those close to me describe me as someone fairly wise: capable of being light hearted and joking, yet serious and pragmatic when the situation calls for it. I am gentle, attentive, and protective of those dear to me, and I place great value on loyalty, respect, and stability.

I throw myself fully into everything I take on: the pursuit of knowledge, poetry, my projects, and I want to bring that same dedication to my marriage. I do not claim to be perfect, but I love to grow, correct myself, and move forward. I am chaste and have never been married. I am seeking a chaste woman who has likewise never had a romantic, ambiguous, or physical relationship outside of marriage.

My Background

I was born in France (i have citizenship), where I lived until the age of 6. I then grew up in Casablanca from 6 to 17, an experience that deeply shaped my outlook, my attachment to family, and my identity. I later went alone to France for my studies, where I now live in Paris, with two years remaining to complete them.

I have followed the Salafi methodology since I was fourteen, and I intend to build my marriage and my household upon the Qur'an and the Sunnah, according to the understanding of the pious predecessors.

I speak fluent French and Darija. I hold an advanced level of English and Arabic (C1) and a B2 level of Spanish.

Physically, I am dark haired with a caramel complexion and dark eyes. I stand 1.75m tall, with an athletic build, and I wear a beard slightly longer than the width of a fist.

Education and Career

I am currently completing the first year of a Master's (M1) in AI and Big Data through a work study program at an engineering school, working as a Data Scientist for a company specialized in the energy transition.

I chose this field because it holds strong promise in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia, and because it will let me offer my future wife a stable, dignified life while keeping the flexibility I need to devote myself to studying my religion.

I want to be honest from the outset: this career is a means, not an end. My ultimate goal is neither luxury nor status. I am pursuing a solid professional footing so that I may study in peace, live with dignity, and properly provide for my household.

My Real Goal: Religious Knowledge

My true goal remains the pursuit of religious knowledge, so that I may draw closer to Allah ﷻ and, if He allows it, serve His religion.

The Prophet ﷺ said: « مَنْ سَلَكَ طَرِيقًا يَلْتَمِسُ فِيهِ عِلْمًا، سَهَّلَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِهِ طَرِيقًا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ »

"Whoever follows a path in pursuit of knowledge, Allah makes easy for him a path to Paradise." (Sahih Muslim, 2699)

My medium term plan is to move to Saudi Arabia after finishing my Master's, in two years إن شاء الله, to study Fiqh at an Islamic university, ideally up to the doctoral level, and then return to settle permanently in Morocco to engage in da'wah. My entire family is in Morocco, and having grown up in Casablanca, this return will feel natural.

Should I not be accepted into the university, I intend to work in the Gulf within my field (AI and Big Data) while studying under scholars of the Sunnah. From there, depending on where Allah grants ease and where I can best serve the religion, I will return to Morocco or settle elsewhere.

My Vision of Marriage

Allah ﷻ says:

« وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوا إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُم مَّوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةً »

"And among His signs is that He created for you, from yourselves, spouses so that you may find tranquility in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy." (Surah Ar Rum, verse 21)

It is this sakina, this mawadda, and this rahma that I wish to build. A husband must be a protector and a responsible figure, but also a source of gentleness, security, and serenity for his wife. To me, manhood is not reduced to authority, it shows itself through patience, gentleness, generosity, protection, and tenderness.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

« خَيْرُكُمْ خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِهِ، وَأَنَا خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِي »

"The best among you is the one who is best to his family, and I am the best among you to my family." (Sunan At Tirmidhi, 3895)

I am aware of the rights owed to a wife, and I know they are considerable: good character, provision, presence, attentiveness, tenderness, protection, and fairness. I do not see my wife as someone who merely accompanies my plans, she has her own rights, feelings, needs, and path. I want to build a relationship in which each of us helps the other grow closer to Allah.

Why I Want to Marry Young

I want to marry young, first to guard myself against fitna, but above all because I long to build a life early on with a wife alongside whom I can grow, learn, and build a solid household. My greatest hope is to raise a large family, if Allah wills it, one where the Qur'an, the Sunnah, modesty, gentleness, and the pursuit of knowledge sit at its heart.

Allah ﷻ says:

« وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا »

"And those who say: 'Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes, and make us leaders for the righteous.'" (Surah Al Furqan, verse 74)

What I Look for in a Wife

I am looking for a woman between eighteen and twenty four years old. I have a preference for an Arab sister, whether from the Maghreb, the Levant, or the Gulf, though I remain open to a sister from Eastern Europe (Bosnia, Russia, Albania) or Turkiye.

What matters most to me is that she be pious, chaste, modest, gentle, and obedient, a woman devoted to the Qur'an and the Sunnah according to the understanding of the Salaf as Salih, who maintains good ties with her family, guards her honor and that of her husband, loves to learn, and shares my vision for the future.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

« تُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ لِأَرْبَعٍ: لِمَالِهَا، وَلِحَسَبِهَا، وَلِجَمَالِهَا، وَلِدِينِهَا، فَاظْفَرْ بِذَاتِ الدِّينِ تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكَ »

"A woman is married for four things: her wealth, her lineage, her beauty, and her religion. So choose the one who has religion, may your hand find dust." (Bukhari, 5090; Muslim, 1466)

This hadith shows that religion is the central criterion, one that must take precedence over everything else. It is, above all, a pious, chaste, and modest woman devoted to the Qur'an and the Sunnah that I am looking for.

That said, I also believe physical attraction matters for a marriage to succeed. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged looking at a prospective spouse before marriage, and I regard this as a wise and necessary Sunnah. A successful marriage, in my view, rests on both religious compatibility and mutual attraction, allowing the couple to find peace and happiness together.

This is why i hope to marry a woman whose beauty is matched only by her faith, character, and modesty.

The Prophet ﷺ also said:

« خَيْرُ النِّسَاءِ الَّتِي تَسُرُّهُ إِذَا نَظَرَ، وَتُطِيعُهُ إِذَا أَمَرَ، وَلَا تُخَالِفُهُ فِي نَفْسِهَا وَمَالِهِ بِمَا يَكْرَهُ »

"The best of women is she who pleases him when he looks at her, obeys him when he commands her, and does not oppose him regarding herself or his wealth in matters he dislikes." (Musnad Ahmad, 7421)

And as Ibn al Qayyim رحمه الله said in Rawdat al Muhibbin:

"Know that beauty is of two kinds: outward and inward. Inward beauty is that which is loved for its own sake: the beauty of knowledge, reason, generosity, chastity, and courage. This inward beauty is what Allah looks at in His servant, and it is the object of His love." (Rawdat al Muhibbin, chapter 19)

This is the balance I seek: a beauty that delights the eye, a piety that nourishes the soul, and a gentleness that calms the heart.

Location and Logistics

I currently live in Paris, with two years of study remaining. Her country of residence makes no difference to me, whether Europe, the United Kingdom, the Gulf, Morocco, Algeria, or elsewhere, as long as she is willing to follow me. I will travel to marry her wherever she resides; she would then come live with me in France, if she wishes, until I complete my studies.

What matters most is that she agree to accompany me afterward in my plan to move to Saudi Arabia, and then in my eventual return to Morocco, where I intend to settle permanently and devote myself to da'wah, or elsewhere, depending on where Allah grants ease and what best serves our religion and our household.

Dealbreakers

  1. Does not wish to wear the niqab or sitar, or has no sincere aspiration to do so.
  2. Has already had a romantic, ambiguous, or physical relationship outside of marriage.
  3. Does not love learning.
  4. Is deeply pessimistic.
  5. Does not take care of herself or make an effort to stay in shape.

I am looking for a woman who already wears the niqab or sitar, or who sincerely aspires to. I understand that someone may still be on that journey, but it must be a genuine, serious, personal aspiration, not a mere concession.

My Religious Daily Life

I live about a fifteen minute walk from a mosque and try to attend all five daily prayers there whenever possible. The mosque holds an important place in my life; I try to remain close to congregational prayer, beneficial gatherings, and pious brothers, since one's environment weighs heavily on the heart and on religious stability. It is also at the mosque that I met many brothers I now consider family.

I place great importance on the Qur'an, though I still want to grow in consistency, memorization, and reflection. I try to read at least one juz a day, and while I have so far memorized only about four ajza, I continue working toward my goal, if Allah permits, of memorizing the entire Qur'an within two years, إن شاء الله. I want the Qur'an to hold a central place in my home and in raising my future children.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

« يُقَالُ لِصَاحِبِ الْقُرْآنِ: اقْرَأْ وَارْتَقِ، وَرَتِّلْ كَمَا كُنْتَ تُرَتِّلُ فِي الدُّنْيَا، فَإِنَّ مَنْزِلَتَكَ عِنْدَ آخِرِ آيَةٍ تَقْرَؤُهَا »

"It will be said to the companion of the Qur'an: 'Recite and ascend, and recite slowly as you used to recite in the world, for your station will be at the last verse you recite.'" (Abu Dawud, 1464; Tirmidhi, 2914)

Arabic and Religious Study

I have a good command of classical Arabic, particularly in religious texts. I read works on 'aqidah, fiqh, and hadith in Arabic, though I continue working on my comprehension, fluency, and expression. I also speak fluent Darija, having grown up in Casablanca, and I intend to keep strengthening my Arabic in order to study religion more seriously and, إن شاء الله, pursue a degree in Fiqh in Saudi Arabia.

I have followed the Salafi methodology since I was fourteen. I have studied and read a number of works on tawhid, 'aqidah, fiqh, hadith, and sira, while remaining fully aware that I am still a beginner with a great deal left to learn.

The Scholars I Follow

I strive to follow the scholars known for their attachment to the Qur'an and the Sunnah according to the understanding of the pious predecessors, among them Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah, Shaykh Ibn al Qayyim, Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab, Shaykh Ibn Baz, Shaykh al Albani, Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymin, Shaykh Salih al Fawzan, Shaykh Rabi' al Madkhali, Shaykh Muqbil al Wadi'i, Shaykh 'Abd al Muhsin al 'Abbad, Shaykh Sulayman ar Ruhayli, Shaykh 'Abd ar Razzaq al Badr, Shaykh Salih al 'Usaymi, Shaykh 'Ubayd al Jabiri, Shaykh Muhammad ibn Hadi al Madkhali, and other scholars of the Sunnah.

I mostly listen directly to these scholars' lessons and reminders.

How I Dress

I wear loose fitting but classy

clothing that falls above the ankles, and I keep a beard slightly longer than the width of a fist.

Health

I have no illness, disability, or particular physical concern to report. I have an athletic build, I stand 1.75m tall, and I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I exercise regularly and place importance on health and strength, as these also support one's daily responsibilities.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

« الْمُؤْمِنُ الْقَوِيُّ خَيْرٌ وَأَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِ الضَّعِيفِ، وَفِي كُلٍّ خَيْرٌ »

"The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, though there is good in both." (Sahih Muslim, 2664)

My Daily Life

Having lived alone in France for several years, I have learned to run a household: cooking, upkeep, and daily tasks. We will therefore be able to move in together quickly after the marriage, I am passionate about seeking knowledge, reading, poetry, and sports. In everyday life, I am a simple person who is content with little and avoids unnecessary conflict.

Conclusion

I make no claim to promise a perfect life, for perfection belongs to Allah alone. What I do promise, إن شاء الله, is to take this marriage seriously, to never neglect my wife's rights, and to constantly strive to better myself for her sake, for our household, and above all, for Allah ﷻ. May Allah ﷻ grant us homes filled with sakina, rahma, and baraka, a righteous spouse, and children who are a joy to our eyes.
