I want to get better at making friends with girls in college
Hi everyone,
Growing up, I mostly had male friends, so I never really got used to talking to girls. I can talk to them if there's a reason, but I almost never start a conversation.
I'm not looking for dating advice or trying to get a girlfriend. I just want to be able to make normal friendships and connections with girls, the same way I do with guys. I also feel like college is the best time to meet new people and build those kinds of connections, and I don't want to waste that opportunity.
The hardest part for me is taking the first step. I always overthink it and worry they'll think I'm annoying or that I'm trying to flirt, so I end up saying nothing.
I study at a school where students come from all over the country just to study. I'd say around 65% of the students are like me—they don't really interact with the opposite gender, and it's rare to see couples here. So I know I'm not the only one, but I still want to improve this.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? What helped you become more comfortable starting conversations and making genuine friendships?
I'd really appreciate any advice, especially from people with a similar background or culture.
