20K Air France Offer

I have to 20K points for $1k spend offer. The only “problem” is that I can’t confirm travel dates until October, due to work obligations. If I buy a random flight to get the offer, then cancel it in a few days, will I be able to get an airline credit? I don’t want the refund, in fear of a clawback, but I also don’t want to be out of $1,000 just to chase an offer.
