My gf is suicidal yet has panic attacks about being afraid of dying?

I’m not at all making fun of her I’m just wondering how both can be true at the same time. Recently she has been having a very hard time mentally and often says how she struggling with suicidal thoughts and wants to die so bad but she also has anxiety and when her heart beats fast she will freak out about how she’s “going to die”

does anyone have a way of explaining this for me to understand?
