Anyone else had a similar experience with Prism+?
I bought my new place about two years ago, and after being spammed with Prism+ ads for months, I was actually quite excited to try their products, especially their ceiling fans with RGB lights. They looked really cool. I'm a complete sucker for RGB products. My monitor light bar, keyboard, mouse, and even my mousepad all have RGB lighting, so it was an easy sell for me.
My ID actually tried his best to talk me out of it because quite a few of his clients had bad experiences with Prism+. In the end, we only bought the fans, and honestly I'm really glad we didn't go ahead with the rest of their products.
I bought the fans from their physical store at NEX. The salesperson told me delivery would take about a month because they had no stock. I even called my ID on the spot to double check the renovation timeline. Renovation was expected to take around 1.5 months, and I was moving in about 2 months later, so a 1-month wait sounded perfectly fine.
I even confirmed with the salesperson again that the fans would really arrive within a month because I was moving in soon. He assured me they would, so I placed the order.
This is where the nightmare started.
One month passed. No updates.
I called Prism+, and they assured me the fans would arrive soon. One week passed. Two weeks passed. Still nothing.
I ended up moving into my new place with barely any lighting in my living room, and no lighting at all in my bedroom because I was planning to rely on the fan lights as the main lights. I had to buy additional standing fans and table lamps just to make the place livable.
The fans only arrived around 3.5 months after I first placed the order.
During the entire wait, there were zero updates and zero apologies from Prism+.
The best part? I bought 3 fans. One of them arrived broken.
The installers could only install two fans because one unit was defective out of the box. I had to waste another afternoon waiting for them to come back just to install the replacement.
Again, no apology.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the end.
Out of the three fans, the first one broke down in less than 6 months. It simply stopped spinning. Since it was under warranty, a technician came and repaired it.
While he was there, I asked if he could also check the fan in my master bedroom because it had started making weird noises.
He refused. According to him, Prism+'s policy is that they can't open up a product that is "not broken" because doing so would void the warranty.
Less than two months later... guess what? The master bedroom fan broke.
So I had to call again, arrange another appointment, and wait for another technician visit.
Just 1-2 months after that repair, the same fan started acting up again. Whenever I set the speed above level 4, it would randomly shut itself off.
I recorded multiple videos showing the issue and sent them over.
The technician came, but of course, that day the fan decided to behave normally.
I showed him all the videos, but he still said he couldn't dismantle the fan because it was working "at the moment".
Only after I insisted did he reluctantly start checking it.
Instead of actually troubleshooting the issue, he spent more time scolding me for not cleaning the fan.
He dismantled the blades, handed them to me one by one, and literally instructed me to clean them while he stood there.
Like seriously? The blades weren't spotless, but they definitely weren't filthy either. I have a part-time helper who cleans the house every two weeks, so I honestly have no idea why he was so upset.
In the end, he couldn't find any issue and left.
Till today, that same fan still randomly turns itself off whenever the speed is above level 4.
If you're considering buying Prism+ products, I'd personally advise against it.
Out of the 4 fan units that were delivered to my house (including the defective one), one arrived broken, the living room fan failed, and the master bedroom fan has had repeated issues. Only the common room fan has been reliable.
That's basically a 75% failure rate in my case.
And here's the thing.
I travel a lot for work. I'm usually away for at least two weeks every month, and sometimes I'm overseas for an entire month. So even though one fan failed within 6 months, it had barely been used. The usage was nowhere near what you'd expect from a normal household.
Looking back, what frustrated me the most wasn't even the faulty products. It was Prism's complete lack of communication, urgency, or accountability.
I honestly don't know how I stayed so patient and calm throughout the whole experience. Looking back, maybe that's the problem. Maybe they would have taken me more seriously if I'd kicked up a fuss and acted like one of those difficult customers.
The best part of this entire story? I finally got rid of all three fans last week.
