I recently bought a 2013 Panasonic P60S60 for a family member for $140 off Facebook Marketplace.

It was great for the first day, unfortunately after that it would occasionally shut down, and eventually would only blink the power light 7 times while staying powered off.

Some troubleshooting online narrowed the problem down to the SU "Control board", you can buy used replacements on eBay for $140.

That solution didn't inspire a lot of confidence in me as the TV came with a local repair shop's sticker with a job number on the rear of the TV.
I called up the repair shop, and after dealing with a bureaucratic tech who hilariously would not divulge any details about the repair, as it there was some sort of sacred doctor-patient confidentiality! After speaking with his boss I was able to find out that the control board was previously replaced under warranty in 2014.

By a huge coincidence after browsing more Facebook Marketplace in my area I found a 2013 Panasonic P60ST60 for $150.

Chatting with the seller revealed that the TV had "slight burn-in", when I checked it out in person I discovered that "slight burn-in" was actually the worst screen burn-in I have ever seen in my life.

They had four stationary security cameras hooked up to the TV with it powered on all day, the cameras were split screen and the layout of the cameras was permanently etched into the screen.
Still the seller was great to talk to and after explaining how I just wanted it for spare parts they ended up dropping the price to just $30, a bargain considering it also came with an original remote and 60" stand which was missing from the S60.

I had read about someone here swapping a 2013 VT control board into an ST so I figured it was worth a shot and bought it.

Inside the TV's are very similar, some notable differences are:

* The S60 is quite the thicker TV with 2.0 speakers while the ST60 has smaller down-firing speakers and a rear firing subwoofer for 2.1 sound.
* The power supplies look largely the same with different positioning of the AC outlet and a few different components in the bottom right, the cables going to the control board are the same though the top one was a different length.
* The main board is quite a bit different, the ST60 has an SD card slot and third HDMI input, the ST60 is also a Smart TV and a 3D TV unlike the S60
* The circuit boards on the right side are very different, four ribbons going to the screen on the ST60 with only three on the S60
* The two buffer boards on the left side are mostly identical with the same part numbers, though interestingly the boards in the ST60 have extra heat sinks on them, and at least one extra surface mounted resistor. I think 3D content would produce more heat hence the extra heat sinks.

I swapped across the control board as well as the two buffer boards for the extra heat sinks and now the TV simply works!

The menus and options are still those from the S60, I was originally tempted to swap across all the of circuit boards as well as the chrome bezel and rear housing, but the additional ribbon cable on the right side cancelled that plan.

I think it would be possible to swap across the main board for an extra HDMI input as well as the power supply and speakers, and keep the S60 right side board connecting to the three ribbon cables, but the S60 boards are built with additional housing thickness in mind and likely wont fit under the slimmer ST60 rear housing.

I couldn't find any documentation or tutorials for this, so it was very much just a "plug in and see what happens, with a fire extinguisher handy" attempt, and as it's all working great I'll leave it be.

We watched The Incredibles 2 last night and the TV looks fantastic.

(The photos aren't the most representative of the image quality due to shutter speed being out of sync with the flickering nature of the TV so take my word for it.)

Arguably not as nice as the ST60 if you ignored the horrific burn-in, and the black levels aren't as nice as my personal P65VT50 in a bright room, but it's a fantastic picture and interestingly one I can look at without me experiencing significant eye pain, unlike OLED TV's that utilise PWM all seem to do.
(Post about that for anyone curious: [https://www.reddit.com/r/ScreenSensitive/comments/1v24yfv/meeting\_with\_politician\_next\_week/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ScreenSensitive/comments/1v24yfv/meeting_with_politician_next_week/) )
