- Body: ok so this is one of the most obscure things i've ever found while digging through early youtube archives. there's apparently a video uploaded on february 14th 2005 which is literally valentines day then the first day youtube was live as a dating site. the video is 11 seconds long then it's just a guy staring directly into the camera then he says one word. "sonion." then the video ends. no context no explanation no description no tags just the word sonion. people have been trying to figure out what it means for over 20 years now then theories range from it being a mispronunciation of onion to it being some kind of secret code word the youtube founders used during beta testing. the video was supposedly deleted within hours of being uploaded then only a handful of people claim to have seen it before it vanished. some say it was jawed karim himself testing the upload feature then he accidentally said a nonsense word. others think it was an inside joke between the founders. the weirdest part is that if u search "sonion" in youtube's source code from 2005 there's allegedly a commented out variable called SONION_ENABLED that was set to false. does ANYONE have a mirror of this video or even a screenshot because it feels like the holy grail of lost youtube history
