PSA … who is the bad guy (FIGC, Maldini, Serie A, etc)

Discussions/Discussioni

Why do I keep seeing that Malago’ is the bad guy and that Maldini and Pirlo are the ones getting the short end of the stick

Do people even know who Malago is, and how he is even allowed to become FIGC president?

To win the election, you need to support, and the support comes from 4 (or 5) different bodies, the players/coaches association, the league (Serie A, Serie B, etc), and so on

It’s a political race, so basically ‘I’ll support you if you guarantee me this or that’ …

Malago’ has proven he has what it takes to run a big organziation like the FIGC. He was in the CONI for over 20 years, and was president the last 10+, he was the architect of Italy getting record medals hauls, etc. The dude knows how to run a big org …

So, that someone doesn’t want Pirlo (or even Maldini) does not fall on Malago’, it falls on Malago’s supporters … Serie A, player associations, agents, league, etc etc

It’s why everyone who wanted Baggio, Maldini, whatever for FIGC President clearly doesn’t know what they’re talking about … a former player is perfect for DT, so it’s no surprise they gave it to Maldini

People have to stop misinterpreting what’s going on and making it a Malago’ vs Maldini thing. Malago’s job is to wheel and deal, play politics with the real power players, the aforementioned Serie A, club execs, owners and so on

Granted it didn’t start of well, Malago said he wanted Mancini and Maldini came in with Pirlo (that Guardiola stuff was smoke and mirrors, you’re gullible and don’t follow Italy if you believed Guardiola was even an option)

Maldini and Pirlo, unfortunately are going to take the brunt of the fallout (should there be one)
