Observations From A Mostly Solo Player After Nearly 40 Hours of Playtime

So far, I'm still having fun with this game after playing mostly solo for 40+ hours. However, I wanted to pass along some observations I've had. A few of these have already been brought up in other Reddit Threads and are on the long-term roadmap.

  1. Enemy ships can pass through solid objects, and I can not, which sometimes makes dogfights incredibly annoying.

  2. The corvette sometimes gets stranded inside a giant rock, meaning you can't loot it.

  3. The bag mechanic needs to be reworked, which I know is on the long-term roadmap. Being limited to 4 items before the bag shows up is a pain in the ass.

  4. The descriptions of modules for components are pretty confusing at times. It's not clear if something is a benefit or a hindrance.

  5. It's weird to see DPS numbers essentially get cut in half if you have a module for a pilot cannon where the last bullet fires 17 additional projectiles, but damage is reduced 60%. I think most people would look at the massive drop in DPS and think the gun is doing worse. In my case, the lower DPS is actually more potent for the Vulcary Rotary Cannon. It doesn't make sense to me.

  6. There are plenty of instances of seeing sloppiness in the game which STOC_MAIN or something like that in the Module description or across other screens.

  7. I think it's ridiculous that if your max boost speed is lower than your max engine speed, the boost acts as an air brake. The Max Boost speed should not be able to be lower than the max engine speed.

  8. When I press the key to move forward or backward and then move my mouse around to aim, it performs terribly. It's nearly impossible to aim up and down while holding down the Forward or Backward movement keys. This is a pretty annoying bug for on-foot damage.

  9. Buddy the AI companion handles ship reloads by auto-crafting single-use or smaller ammo configurations rather than efficiently grabbing pre-made 4-packs, which often drains your ship's resources. This is painfully obvious when playing the Very Hard Data Extraction missions. I now purchase 4-packs on my own and leave them by the ammo chute for Buddy to use.

  10. Being able to only purchase 1 green Ingot at a time is really stupid.

  11. A refund system needs to be in place for when I remove components or weapons to get some of my ingot investment back.

  12. There needs to be more than 6 weapon slots available. I don't care if the slots are exponentially more expensive to purchase; there should be at least one slot for every available on-foot weapon, excluding Expendables.

  13. The mission screen should explain in plain English and make it obvious what the bonus objectives are.

  14. Sometimes, I will get hit with something that practically one-shots my 1,800 shield. I never know what the hell it is. Would love to have the ability to see what damaged me the most during a mission.

  15. I think the materia prices at the Trader make the trader useless. Sure, there's the Trader artifact, but outside of that, why even bother?

  16. I'd like to see an artifact added that increases the chance of an exploded ship giving materia. It would really help me out around the 9th wave of the very hard Data Extraction mission.

Looking forward to more updates to the game and a variety of new mission types.
