Should I change my primary to the Soma or should I still use the Hek?

I just hit mastery rank 6 and I'm thinking about changing my primary. I've heard many people say that the Soma is one of the best weapons in the game, but I have also heard people say the Hek can carry you to mastery rank 8. What weapon should I prioritize?
