Giving my notice tomorrow
I work at a Shoppers part time as a second job after my main job cut back hours. It wasn’t in my city but it’s not a bad drive, my coworkers are great and the manager is great. I work at the Post desk and worked there for 2 years now, for the most part it’s been a good experience, until about 6 months ago. Customers are just getting more rude and belligerent, I’m tired of dealing with adults having tantrums over every small thing.
No I can’t provide packing tape, why? Because my employer has made it clear it’s not allowed and Canada Post has reiterated it’s not allowed, that’s reason enough. I don’t know why so many people show up with open boxes expecting I’ll tape it for them or why they’re so shocked that they don’t get free tape at this business that sells tape.
My poor manager got threatened over telling a customer they can’t have free tape, it wasn’t her decision but that customer didn’t care.
No I can’t accept a return if the sender address on it from a distant city. Why? Because the company wants you to return it at a Canada post in that city, not one far away, that’s the rule.
Had a man have a screaming fit when I told him his Amazon return could not be dropped off at our location because the sender address on the label was nowhere near our location.
And the money transfers are long and constant and people get pissed when I tell them we can’t accept $100 bills because forgeries have become such a problem.
For that and many more reasons I’m putting in my two weeks notice tomorrow. I’m fortunate I have another part time job lined up, and my main job never requires me to interact with customers. I just feel bad I’m putting more work on my coworkers until the job is filled. Again everyone working at shoppers is great and I’m sorry I’m quitting because my anxiety has just become to bad.
Sorry to vent people, good luck to all Shopper’s employees
