Flare, a tool for teams to jointly watch, redirect, and hand off ONE live AI session together (not a read-only transcript). alpha open now, want brutal feedback.

Right now, working with AI is single-player. You open a chat, get an answer in a box only you can see, and if you want your team to see it too, the best you've got is a dead, read-only transcript link.

I built Flare to fix that. It's a shared room where a team jointly watches, redirects, and hands off control of ONE live AI session, the way you'd work with any other teammate, not by passing screenshots around.

Quick demo on how Flare works:

It's built around three principles, basically the CIA triad applied to AI collaboration:

  • Confidentiality: not everyone sees or approves the same thing. Roles (Viewer, Instructor, Approver) control access, not who has the link.
  • Integrity: the right people approve the right things. Consequential actions get checkpointed and logged, never a rubber stamp.
  • Availability: the right people can work on it together, live. Drop in, redirect, hand off. Real control, not a static transcript.

How it actually works right now: one person holds "the flare" and drives the conversation. Everyone else is a spectator, but not a passive one: you watch the holder's draft appear live as they type (500ms delay), you watch the model's reply stream in token by token, and you can hit an emergency stop on a bad response even if you're not holding the flare. The holder can pause a response mid-stream or hand the flare to someone else, with a note about what to focus on next.

Why $1? This alpha runs on Llama 3.1 8B (small, cheap, and the point of this test is the multiplayer mechanics, not raw model IQ, so don't expect GPT-4-level reasoning out of it). I'm charging exactly $1 via Stripe to filter out bots, get testers who'll actually try to break it, and offset basic API costs. Not trying to profit off a dollar, it's a filter, not a business model. I understand if you dont trust me, If you really don't like the product, or just want to snoop around, DM me and ill refund the stripe purchase: No minimum or maximum time. Space is yours along with whoever else is in the shared demo room, and the API key's already handled on my end, nothing to configure: [Stripe link]

I'm personally at my computer monitoring this live until 10PM PT tonight, then I'm pulling it down to keep building. Drop your brutal feedback, feature requests, or "this is broken" reports in the comments. I'll be answering all of it.

(Longtime lurkers might remember my earlier Pi-4 project, Daemon. Flare is a full rework of that idea into what YC's newest Request for Startups calls "multiplayer AI." This is the rebuilt version of that concept.)
