How to maximise sulphur from charts and voyages?

Hi fellow Divers

Do you know how to scale sulphur farm? I am getting rather random amounts, is it random or I miss something? Usually I try to scout most open area with, throw lantern.. but still sometimes I get 200, sometimes 500 from one lantern in the same chart.

Is there anything that can influence the drop? I don't care about loot in mechanic because barely anything makes it through filter but I'd like to farm juice for crafting.
