I feel like I HAVE to do everything instead of doing the things I WANT to do

Burnout

I'm not sure if the art that is allowed to be talked about is only visual art (like digital drawing, paintings, etc) or if it covers more like writing, photography, as forms of art.

I once got into a debate when I posted a short story I wrote in an art channel once. It only had an art channel but that's a story for another time.

Context/The Rant

I'd consider myself a writer and also slowly learning about music production because those types of art are what I enjoy making and consuming.

I also make my own content on YouTube and I see these amazing drawn thumbnails and something inside me is telling me that I NEED to learn how to draw to make good thumbnails. I NEED to learn how to draw to make stickers/charms/or little fun gifts for my friends and family.

My brain keeps telling me I NEED to do all of these artistic things just to be "good enough" when all I want to do is write and learn how to make music.

Writing this now, I'm thinking this might be a mix of burnout and a possible depressive episode.

I've already spent money on a drawing journal and "learn how to draw anime" book and now I feel like I'm even more obligated to stick to drawing. If I don't then I feel like I'm "wasting money" so I should just deal with the pain and learn. At least that's what my mind tells me.

Sometimes the pressure of my family and friends gets to me too. Always saying how I should draw again, how they miss the times when I used to draw all the time.

But I got older and found other forms of art that make me happy. I think the only exception for drawing would be pixel art. I don't find it "easy" but I find it fun and almost like a game. But then I start seeing high detailed or large scaled pixel art of anime characters that look amazing but then lead back to "should I stick with drawing on paper before doing pixel art at all?"

It's like a whole repeating cycle of self doubt, annoyance, and burnout.

I hope I'm not the only one who feels this way sometimes. But thanks for coming to my TED Talk lol.
