Move from Design Engineering into Engineering Project Management

I'm looking for some advice from anyone who's moved from Design Engineering into Engineering Project Management.

I've been in my current Design Engineer role for almost 8 years. I enjoy the people I work with, we have great perks (lots of holiday, flexi time, good work-life balance), but professionally I feel like I've stagnated. There hasn't been much progression and we were told there'd be no pay rises this year, which has made me realise I probably need to move on.

I've been offered an Engineering Project Manager role by a company where one of my old colleagues now works. He knows me well and thinks I'd be a good fit.

The offer is:
£45k (£5k more than I'm on now)

4-day week (Monday-Thursday, Fridays off)

Formal PM training and development

More responsibility and exposure to the full product lifecycle

The downside is it's a genuine project management role:

Lots of meetings and calls

Presenting project updates to management

Planning, budgets and schedules

Customer and stakeholder management

More admin than I'm used to

The thing I'm struggling with is that the whole reason I started looking for a new job was because I wanted to do something more creative**.**
My ex-colleague keeps mentioning opportunities where my creative skills could help the business (creating 3D models for marketing, improving datasheets, helping with the website etc.), which genuinely excites me. But I also know that's not the role I've interviewed for. The role is project management.

I keep going round in circles.
Part of me thinks this would be an amazing opportunity to develop commercially, become more confident, learn project management and broaden my experience.

The other part of me worries I'll spend my days in meetings wishing I was designing products instead.

Has anyone here made a similar move?

Did you enjoy project management more than you expected?

Did you miss the technical/design side?

Did it make you a stronger engineer in the long run?

If you realised PM wasn't for you, did it still help your career?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who've actually been through it, as I'm trying to decide whether this is a smart career move or whether I should keep holding out for a more design-focused role.
