What’s Gelebor been up to?

When we meet the last unturned falmer, Gelebor, he’s living at the entrance of the Wayshrine, guarding it for Auriel. Skyrim doesn’t give us a lot of context on how old he was when the war with the Nords began, however I would say it’s safe to say he was at least born before the Night of Tears, which means he’s likely close to 5000 years old!

This part I can buy, whether Auriel has blessed him with long life or (my personal guess) the snow elves are simply the longest living of the elven races. But if that’s the case, he likely left the forgotten vale and has been staying at the shrine for about 3500-4000 years. So all this to say…

What the fuck does mans get up to??!

Divayth Fyr, Yagrum Bagarn, Camilla Valerius, all had factions or allies or people to commune and revel with for their long lives, he seemingly has no stimuli and no pastimes in dingy little cave. He doesn’t seem to journal, he doesn’t have any pets and there isn’t a hackey-sack in sight.

Do we ever get any insight or hints as to what he’s been doing the last few milennia? Because surely someone in his position would be a manic mess and would likely be unable to even properly communicate, let alone be this charming normal guy we meet in Dawnguard.
