I feel like my new friends are gossiping about me, how do I get over it

I met the group about 2 months ago, & it’s one person’s birthday next week. I proposed we all pitch to get him a gift, something he needs. Everyone thought it was “sweet” & “great idea”, so we planned it all out. Will sit down with him next weekend to watch him open it.
I ended up paying for the whole thing, which is fine! I was prepared todo so on such short notice to be fair. I still want it to be a group gift from all of us, I think it’s more sentimental that way.

Ever since we planned this gift, there has been tension. I’m not sure why, but I’m losing it thinking it’s about me..

I first noticed they started making remarks about a particular person(who is unknown to only me). They call this person a “cr33p” regularly, and get secretive about it when I ask details.
Then I noticed I was being ignored quite frequently, or just one word responses with no eye contact. I’m generally quiet, so in the past when I do speak up they’re always kind and welcoming. They could be frustrated I don’t open up too often, but who knows.
Lastly, one of the girls has been strongly hinting she’s romantically involved with the gift recipient for past two days. Which she’s one of the ones who’s been ignoring me & usually doesn’t..all the girls actually have been, and it hurts.

TLDR: Not sure how to lessen this feeling I’m hot gossip. I could ask more directly if I’m stepping on toes, but that could just cause further issue. Ghosting would be embarrassing… cause I have nothing to be ashamed about & I never intended to cause issues. I don’t feel welcome anymore though, so why stay. Is it worth the extra stress to maintain social connections?
