Now what?!
When I saw him on the first day of my job it felt like a firework went off in my head. I spent the next several months smothering that feeling. I am a severely emotionally closed off person to the point that I had assumed I was asexual or even aromantic; I guess no such luck.
Every time I saw him I lost control over how I felt a little bit more. When I was moved to be in the same department as him it became uncontrollable. Just seeing his face made my cheeks feel hot and we could talk for so long and I smiled so much that my cheeks would hurt when he walked away and I dropped it. I remember looking up from what I was doing and seeing him standing 30 feet away, working, but also watching me work. Because I spent so long as an ugly duckling, the way he acted towards me was obviously different than anyone else ever had.
I couldn't stand the liminal space and the yearning and not knowing. I slipped him my phone number when leaving one day: if he wasn't interested I could put the whole horrible event behind me. If he was.... I hadn't thought that far.
He didn't text or call for a whole week. I figured that was it, I could wipe my hands of it because he wasn't interested. I see him at work today and he immediately ambushes me to say, "I'm so sorry, I dropped your number on the way home."
I apologized for giving it to him in such an awkward way in the first place and his response almost put me on the FLOOR!
"No, it was really cute."
So, now we have fully exchanged numbers. Only two texts have been sent, both just "Hi here's my number!"
But what now? WHAT NOW?! I have NEVER in my whole life been in this situation. I have never once organically formed a crush, initiated contact and had the crush (seemingly????) reciprocated. I don't want to come off as desperate or thirsty or some third thing that's even worse.
This is basically my first day on earth as a cute girl and I'm not prepared.
