Do not join Nebula defsat and ruin your time in return of false promises.

I am a final year student pursuing BTech CSE and recently I joined nebula defsat as an intern. My university has a mandatory course structure where we have to do an industry internship for 2 months during our sem break. You have an option of applying for companies that offer internships through the university or you can get one yourself whether it be from any job seeking website or dialling up your contacts. The only main thing being you have get yourself registered in the university’s non teaching credit course portal with the company you have joined.

As for me, i joined a company which offered me an online internship for 2 months and it was pretty chill but with no stipend (i knew that internships generally dont give stipends as much) but i still wanted a proper office experience and if possible..a stipend. A few days later my friend joined Nebula DefSat a.k.a Nebula Accelerator. My friend told me that she applied to that company via mail and within day she got a response, she got a call from Pravash Dey (the director) and they talked about what projects my friend had done and voila my friend got the internship.

My friend told me that nebula defsat is pretty chill asw and they have their working space in Hauz Khas Social. But they weren’t getting a stipend either but this internship sounded so cool because pravash claims that the company has ties with National Defence, focused towards cybersecurity, drone surveillance, DRDO etc. So even i applied via mail and the same thing happened, pravash called and asked me to come to hauz khas social and when we met he basically just told one of the interns already present there to check my project and voila i was in.

I asked him if there will be any stipend and to my surprise be said “yes”
Later that day he said to me and my friend that nebula offers stipend upto 8.5k to interns. It all sounded too good to be true. Hauz khas social, alternate day working, free food, a good stipend. But it was all just a facade.

Things I slowly started realising :

  1. Pravash hires interns only. I found no senior employee there, only 4-5 guys who are all interns.

  2. Unrealistic projects. He handed me a project to make a transaction system for army personnel so that they can willingly transfer their funds to their family members and nominees. Total bs because this already exists.

  3. The company has other child companies under it atleast that is what i could see. Nebula defsat was for providing security services, nebula accelerator was for giving aid to startups and students with personal ventures, forcesandfashion - a fashion store where he claims to sell army equipments and clothing. I was hired as an ai ml specialist but i was also being handed projects like making an edtech platform from scratch? Which already exists? Where he wanted me to add videos directly from YouTube into the website? Yeah fishy af.

  4. No stipend. The main reason why i am writing this post. He mentioned he wud pay us but after a month when my friend asked for their stipend he said “ask me about this after 1st july” which was like a month after lmao. He gave reasons like “the company’s mca auditing is still left, kyc not done yet, will pay soon.” Upon consulting with the other interns we got to know that they were paid only for a month for their 6 month duration. Some were never paid.

Nebula DefSat felt like a fraud company just like its director, Pravash Dey. He himself was a sketchy person. He paid for the food daily but couldn’t give us our stipends. His blueprint to run his fake companies or keep them alive is to hire interns, give fake promises, once they ask about stipends give them excuses or ignore them, wait for their internship to end, repeat the cycle. Its basically exploitation of us students who just want to learn and gain experience and i had neither of those in this internship.

So please do not join this company if it ever comes across. Do not waste your time and share this so that students don’t get misled into a trap.
