The Boss is just incredible
Just a random appreciation post for my Umnumzaan. I've always thought, just looking at numbers and randomly handling the different CRK knives, that pretty much all are pretty close if not equal in performance. Like there's no huge difference between any of the models, even including small / large variations. Nothing like when you'd compare a Spyderco to a Hinderer (laser beam vs prybar).
I also knew for a long time that a Sebenza, specifically the small ones, are the sliciest because it's a tiny bit thinner blade stock and also grounded more hollow / thinner behind the edge. And then the Inkosi is a little thicker and less hollow.
I've never really given much thought to the 'Zaan, it was more of a display / appreciation / conversation piece, haven't really seen much use. This weekend it did! It cuts like a small Sebenza but is comfortable like a large Inkosi. Because of the double post / dual contact area I also feel like it should be the most stable lockup. (Regarding the blade itself, the large Inkosi is a little sturdier, of course, but that should be way beyond any rational use imo.)
I think the 'Zaan is the Boss for a reason and he's my new favorite 😄
