Does the story gets better ?

I just started this game and I’m around at 3-4 hours and I already see myself skipping some cutscene because they’re boring. Which annoys me because I like the gameplay but without being interested in the story idk if I’ll last long playing it.

Does it get better ? I heard manye people say digimon story is way darker and mature than pokemon. But right now all I see is a typical anime story with a mute mc and annoying girls.
