The constant anxiety of managing my aging parents' finances in India from abroad... Anyone else exhausted by this?
Being an NRI gets really lonely when it comes to handling back-home responsibilities.
My parents are getting older, and trying to manage their bank accounts, FD renewals, tax filing, and medical expenses remotely is becoming a daily stressor.
Half the time, bank RMs take advantage of them by selling useless insurance policies instead of simple FDs. The other half, my parents get panicked over random SMS alerts from the IT Department or banks that turn out to be nothing, but I have to spend hours trying to fix it from thousands of miles away.
Between navigating NRE/NRO rules for sending them money and making sure their taxes are filed properly so they don't get notices, it feels like a second full-time job.
How do you guys manage financial responsibilities for parents back in India without going crazy? Did you hire a local trusted CA, or do you handle every single thing online yourself?
