I'm a furniture manufacturer from Jodhpur who recently started selling on Amazon — looking for advice from fellow Indian business owners

Seeking Guidance

I'm a furniture manufacturer based in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and I run a small manufacturing business called Jupiter Design.

We manufacture iron furniture and handicraft furniture, including dining chairs, tables, and other home furniture. Until recently, most of our business was through traditional B2B orders and offline channels, but I recently decided to take our products online and started selling on Amazon.

It's been around 20 days since I started, and I've received my first 2 orders. My store is still very new, but I'm slowly seeing more traffic and visibility on my listings, which has been really encouraging.

The biggest challenge I'm facing right now is shipping furniture profitably.

Some of my chairs are fully assembled and around 85 cm tall, so shipping them through Amazon's Easy Ship can be difficult due to package size restrictions. Self-shipping through couriers can also become expensive, especially for long-distance orders.

I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to scale online while keeping shipping costs, returns, RTOs, and margins under control.

I'd love to hear from other Indian small-business owners:

How did you start selling your products online?

Which platforms have worked best for you—Amazon, Flipkart, your own website, etc.?

If you sell bulky or large products, how do you handle shipping?

Have you found any reliable and affordable logistics partners?

What mistakes should a new seller like me avoid?

I'm hoping to learn from people who have already gone through this journey.

I'm happy to share my experience as I learn and grow Jupiter Design online as well. 🙏

Thanks!
