If you’ve organized your intakes to filter great fit SMB clients, what’s your top tip?
For a 4th time I’m starting over.
Again solving Strategic, MarCom & Online Growth challenges without the use of ads. Our broad first level clients: organizations who seem to undervalue their help to clients or think to be overlooked by a large portion of their ideal clients. Who want to show and tell what and how they help clients, but don’t really organise that. Often ‘too busy’ or ‘no focus’ or ‘not the right in-house people’ or ‘burned by agency experiences’
From my 1st to 2nd business I moved away from helping SMBs finding many clients overasking, undervaluing our work, and often their teams were not able to work and thus sell to the organic marketing opportunities and leads we created.
6yrs forward I see plenty of reasons to believe that was on me.
We over delivered not because they asked, we did so to prove something. Which led to work they didn’t ask for. Even though the opportunities were real, their organisations asked for solutions we should have directed to others.
The years after my next business helped tourism boards and sports brands all across Europe and in some African and American regions. These organisations paid triple, asked half and were always happy.
But then we weren’t… for them there were sooooo many more valuable opportunities to be taken. Their ‘issue’ was no real commercial need to take them. Their pro’s we worked with had so much work on their hands, that even some crazy returns with work that was fun to do couldn’t bother them. Simply too much to do on too many levels with too few people.
Which brings me here, back, deeply motivated to help SMBs see, show and take the opportunities they have. This time we’ll communicate with a very different style. We’ll use less of their time talking trying to ‘help’ and have structured much of the strategic, MarCom, PR and Sales products we’ve been improving since day one.
My question to you: if you’ve organized your intakes to filter great fit SMB clients, what’s your top tip?
