Any other Medium mains feeling a bit lost this season?
I’ve been a Medium main for a long time and reached Diamond in two different seasons, so I’d like to think I have a decent understanding of the class, although I’m definitely not a pro. Lately, though, I’ve been having a hard time figuring out where Medium really fits in the current meta.
Heavy feels like the clear frontline with incredible survivability, while Light has unmatched mobility and can choose when to take or leave fights. Medium, on the other hand, feels like it’s expected to do a bit of everything without really having a defining strength anymore. Since every class now has access to ways of recovering health, I’ve started wondering what Medium is actually supposed to bring that the other two can’t.
One matchup that really made me think about this is against Heavy. I don’t necessarily think the KS-23 is overpowered, but it often feels like the fight is heavily in their favor because of how differently both classes deal damage. As a Medium, I have to stay exposed and consistently land multiple shots with weapons like the FCAR or AK, while the Heavy can deal huge chunks of damage with individual hits and has the health pool to survive longer exchanges, not mentioning the Dome Shield and Mesh Shield combined. It leaves me feeling like I have to play much closer to perfectly just to get the same value.
Maybe this is just a solo queue experience, or maybe I’m approaching Medium the wrong way. I’m genuinely curious what other Medium players think. Are you still finding success this season, or have you changed the way you play? I’d love to hear some advice because I really enjoy the class and would rather adapt than switch mains
