I [27M] love my girlfriend [24F] but wish she would grow out of her nerdiness
We have been together for around 2 years. On every single other metric, I think she is my perfect fit. We are both career driven, not looking to have kids, share similar values, etc. Most importantly, my entire immediate family loves her, which has never happened with previous partners.
The only one thing I wish she'd change is that she is unusually nerdy for her age. She loves Genshin and has pins, figures, and plushes from that game and other games in her work room. There's even LED lights on her shelf that she bought just to display other video game stuff. It's literally like walking into a teenage boy's room.
Initially in the early stages of the relationship I was trying to reason that it would be fine, she'd grow out of it, its her space anyway, but now that we're having serious conversations about buying a home I am somewhat horrified about having my parents over and having them see these juvenile toys. She's also financially irresponsible with her obsession--she spent $500 on one of her figures??
Honestly, its even more embarrassing because from the outside she doesn't seem like this type of person at all. I didn't even know about this side of her until we were months into dating. She doesn't seem nerdy. She's fairly well-spoken and dresses well. She's even finishing her last year in law school this year, and she has an amazing high-stakes job lined up after school. I feel like my family's perspective of her as my witty amazing partner would completely shatter if they knew what I knew.
I tried having conversations about maybe putting the stuff in boxes or buying less, but she's always been very "Its my money, I do what I want." I really, really love her a lot, but I can't see myself living in a home where I have to stare at these things every day. Do I give her an ultimatum?
