Would an atheist be able to go to heaven if they don’t believe in god due to personal experiences with the church

Negative experiences with the church can heavily impact one’s view of what God is correct. People who reject a God pushed on them by people who use the religion for their own benefit may have preconceived notions about what God is and may deny that God, but would that not be somewhat akin to denying a false idol? We all have our own interpretations of what God is truly like so would it not make sense to deny some interpretations of God? I wanted to get a view of how different denominations view this issue, and any evidence such as bible verses or theological stances may affect it. Thanks!
