I interviewed Kyle Smith after his show, and his answers were surprising...

:bong-1: thoughts

I've been working on a series called Faces of the Scene, where I'm interviewing musicians, photographers, vendors, and other people who make the California reggae community what it is.

I recently had a chance to sit down with Kyle Smith after his show, and the biggest surprise wasn't a tour story.. It was hearing him say he never really believed being on stage was possible until about five years ago.

We also talked about:

  • Getting drunk on the lawn at Irvine Meadows as a teenager watching Slightly Stoopid
  • The weirdest place he's ever woken up (involving a dead rat stapled to a front door)
  • Why Sacramento is still one of his favorite crowds
  • Who he thinks deserves more recognition in the scene
  • Why the community itself has been the biggest part of his journey

I wrote it as a profile first and included the full interview afterward because I wanted to preserve his own words. If you're a fan of Kyle or the reggae community, I'd love to hear what you think.
