Faulty trunk

Hello everyone,

The external switch/handle for opening the trunk on my skoda octavia 4x4 2016 has stopped working all of a sudden. Is this something common, and if so, what might it be?

I can hear something other than the actual trigger clicking when i press it, but nothing happens. Opening with the keyfob or dash button works fine.
