Quick question on index funds

Need to sell 30k vti over the next few months. Currently theyre up like 8k and been there for a few years

Im selling cuz I got laid off and dont get my 65k severance until mid October

By then if I get a job and put back in 30k into vti, am I losing money?

Should I have left more money in my hysa? I feel like im doing the right thing
