Odyssey(2026) thoughts
The movie is good but not 'rewatchable good,' and i would rank it lower in Nolans list of good movies. I'm sharing this because I saw a few things that could have been done to improve the film.

The pacing was a bit too fast and muddled for me. The flashbacks, non-linearity, and story jumps did all work for Oppenheimer because the movie is presented as a puzzle piece and they do not work for Odyssey because we all read it and we know what happens and what to expect.

Zeus's law is overused. Not to mention it played a central role in the movie plot.
-
The no makeup makeup look. Yes, it works, especially in indie movies. but it just feels off on bigger-budget epic movies.
-
The Costume design and the decisions around the use of costumes.
- I hate the giants' armor; it all looks shiny and the same for each giant, and they are all already wearing it.
- The Trojan armor, especially the helmets; that everyone was wearing them on the surprise attack.
- Agamemnon's armor! It's like everyone's wearing uncommon items, and he's got the epic items.
- That they are wearing full body armor rowing the boats.
-
Overuse of known actors. It's so distracting because we are so used to investing emotions in the known actors when we watch movies; it's overwhelming.
-
The modern dialogue. "...Odysseus, feel free to add some stuff..."
-
The Cast. Everyone did great except that they could have used a bit of reshuffling.
- Charlize Theron as Helen
- Mia Goth as Clytemnestra (not twins)
- Lupita Nyong'o as Calypso
- Tom Holland as Sinon
- Elliot Page as Telemachus
