Gapryong Kim
I think the recent negative feelings surrounding Gapryong simply comes from the author hyping him up, while also keeping him unknown for YEARS before actually showcasing his story. Fans were expecting A LOT from him and when those expectations are not what was expected, some see it as negative or not good enough which is annoying to me since we are only like 7 chapters into the Arc.
"The way he fights is boring." / If that is actual criticism then what about Kitae? He has no fighting style and other than not having conviction, fights similarly to Gapryong but I do not see that criticism for him. So why is the criticism so negative towards Gapryong and the way he fights?
Against Elite, we get to understand Gapryong a bit more with him saying, "Ride the wind's wave." I took that as him being the type of person who simply "goes with the flow" of things. There is no thought out plan like Elite and James. He is simply doing as he wants without caring about others opinions of him.
Also, I do not believe the Arc is forced or badly paced. I think we are seeing how similar Jake is to his father. People just want to be on his side. So, when we see characters like Elite and Tom so quickly swayed to join him, we are seeing just how approachable and likable he is. I think the author is showing us exactly what he intended to show us.
I see Gapryong as an unpredictable person due to his personality. I feel like fans are a bit too emotional right now due to their head cannons being shatter or far from the character Gapryong is. I also had expectations but it is important to not let those expectations negatively impact who Gapryong is and what the author actually intended for him.
