Dating Russian girl
I recently dated a 26-year-old girl who moved to my country (Czech Republic) 7 years ago from Eastern Europe. At first, the chemistry was great, but her deep insecurity and defensiveness quickly took over.
Despite working hard to get permanent residency here, she constantly put down my country, made condescending generalized comments about locals, and expressed extreme defensive nationalism whenever politics came up. She projected past relationship trauma onto me, claimed she "couldn't trust people around me" rather than trusting my judgment, and deflected every serious conversation onto her friends.
Bizarrely, she only showed affection when I expressed frustration or vulnerability regarding my own life, but turned cold, condescending, and distant whenever I was confident, positive, or set firm boundaries—eventually leaving me on read.
It felt like a mix of unhealed displacement trauma, insecurity, and total hypocrisy—demanding respect for her background while constantly disrespecting mine. I ended up pulling back because it was completely draining.
I know everyone is unique, but I’m curious if anyone here has dated someone navigating this specific type of defensive nationalism and insecure avoidance after moving abroad from that region, or if this is just classic emotional immaturity? Thanks for your insights!
