SFO —> EWR Disaster

Had a flight scheduled to leave SFO at 3PM. The inbound plane arrived early and we boarded on time at 2:10PM. They initially said that there would be a 30 min delay due to weather issues. Understandable.

After that, they kept pushing back the departure time by 10 to 15 minutes due to a “maintenance issue”. This went on for about 2.5 hours before they allowed people to deplane to stretch their legs and grab food. They then delayed the departure time for 2 more hours and also said that they needed to get a new crew bc their shift was ending. Eventually United cancelled the flight altogether.

What was crazy is that there was a miscommunication between the flight crew and gate agents. The flight crew were saying that there was a maintenance issue but the gate agents were telling customers that the copilot wasn’t feeling well and went home. After they cancelled the flight we waited another 2 hrs before our bags were released to us. They rebooked some people but we just decided to go home and try again the next day lol.
