Glow-Up Checklist (Advice I got from Reddit )

A few weeks ago I asked Reddit for glow-up advice. I got hundreds of comments and DMs, so I decided to compile everything into one checklist. I'm also using this as my own roadmap. Hopefully it helps someone else too!

# 1. Mindset (Most Important)

Your looks are only the **book cover**. A beautiful cover helps, but nobody wants to read an empty book.

Build a life you're proud of:

* Work on your career, skills and passions.
* Develop confidence and a positive mindset.
* Stop comparing yourself to other people.
* Cut down jealousy and negative self-talk.
* Work on self-image issues.
* Love yourself while improving yourself. You don't have to hate yourself to change.
* You can decide today that you're no longer the person who neglects yourself.

# 2. Reduce Phone & Social Media

Deleting Instagram helped me a lot.

I still use Instagram occasionally through Chrome because it's honestly much less addictive than the app.

Now I mostly:

* Reply to my friends.
* Watch a couple of stories.
* Save motivational posts related to my own goals.
* Log out.

My screen time has reduced a lot because I started focusing on my own life instead of everyone else's.

# 3. Sleep & Stress

This was one of the biggest recommendations.

* Sleep 8+ hours.
* Avoid your phone before bed.
* Manage stress and anxiety.
* Good sleep is honestly a game changer.

# 4. Nutrition

Most people agreed that food affects your skin, energy and overall glow more than expensive skincare.

Focus on:

* Protein
* Fibre
* Vitamin C
* Plenty of fruits
* Leafy vegetables
* Bananas
* Papaya
* Chia seeds
* Flax seeds
* Walnuts
* Sprouts
* Chana
* Paneer
* Dahi
* Soya chunks
* Protein powder (if needed)

Use healthy cooking oils (I use virgin olive oil).

Reduce:

* Ultra-processed foods
* Refined sugar
* Artificial sugar
* Oily junk food

Try finishing dinner by around 7 PM if it fits your schedule.

# 5. Exercise

Move every day.

My current routine:

**4 days/week**

* Upper body strength workout
* Dumbbells (I recently bought 3 kg ones)
* Jump rope (5-10 minutes)
* 10k steps
* Yoga for 5-10 minutes afterwards

**2 days/week**

* Jogging or running

**1 day/week**

* Complete rest or light yoga

Strength training, especially building back muscles, has helped my posture a lot.

I currently follow Vanya Badola's upper-body workout from YouTube because I enjoy her style and it's easy to stay consistent.

Also, don't sit for hours. Even while studying, get up every hour and walk around for a few minutes.

# 6. Skincare

Keep it simple and stay consistent.

Morning:

* Cleanse
* Niacinamide serum
* Sunscreen

Night:

* Wash face
* Niacinamide serum
* Pond's Super Light Gel moisturizer

I also use:

* Eyebrow serum
* Eyelash serum
* Nail oil

# 7. Health

This advice was specifically given to me because I have severe dark circles and some symptoms that could be related to deficiencies or thyroid issues.

I'm planning to:

* Get blood work done
* Visit a doctor
* Take supplements only if they're actually needed

Sometimes the issue isn't your skincare—it's your health.

# 8. Fashion & Style

* Experiment with clothes.
* Find what suits your body.
* Build your own style instead of copying trends.
* Pinterest is great for inspiration.
* Myntra has lots of options.
* Savana has some cute pieces, but always check reviews.
* H&M has good basics if you choose carefully.

# 9. Hair

* Find a hairstyle that suits your face.
* Don't make impulsive haircuts you'll regret.

# 10. Hobbies

Become an interesting person.

Some hobbies I'm pursuing:

* Guitar
* Dancing
* Yoga
* Running
* Jogging
* Reading

# Final Thoughts

The biggest lesson I learned is that a glow-up isn't just skincare or makeup.

It's:

* Sleeping well.
* Eating nutritious food.
* Exercising.
* Building muscle.
* Improving your posture.
* Working on your confidence.
* Developing skills.
* Having hobbies.
* Reducing social media.
* Creating a life you genuinely enjoy.

You can absolutely become more attractive while still loving yourself. Self-improvement doesn't have to come from self-hatred.

It took me almost three years just to take the first step. Progress isn't always fast, but once you start building good habits, everything begins to improve.

Hope this helps someone who's just starting their own glow-up journey. ❤️
