Fix for ALH TDI bogging on uphills and stalling
I didn't feel like I found too much out there to help my solve my issue so here was my problem and fix. My mk4 tdi Jetta (no lift pump) was bogging only on uphills, and if I didn't drive it sufficiently on flat land after the hill and instead exited the highway, as soon as I clutched in it would stall and air would enter the fuel lines. I assumed I had a small air leak that would only occur under heavy load from the injection pump since it didn't bog on flat land, which turned out to be right I believe. I initially replaced my engine bay rubber fuel lines to no avail, and after I replaced my fuel sending unit and the t fitting on the fuel filter my car drives fine now. Also fyi, I was able to replace the fuel sending unit with just a tad under half a tank of fuel, most sources say it should be closer to a quarter so I wanted to throw that out there.
