My critical attack against the antis (you are welcome to use)

PinnedKing Aemond đź’Žđź‘‘

The anti-Aemond crowd all have no brains, zero critical thinking skills.

Seeing those meme posts about Aemond getting sneak-stabbed at Harrenhal and then being compared to Daemon in sword-fighting skills is hilarious—like, this character has the most kingly qualities out of all the candidates, so they have to drag up one moment where he's brought down to make a point, when everyone knows this show is heavily biased toward team Black and doesn't want the kid aura-farming. Not to mention there's a theory that Alys did it with a purpose. Do those brain-dead team Black fans actually believe this stuff and think it proves anything about a person's failure?

As a person, qualities like courage and grit in taming Vhagar, discipline, dedication to learning (Aemond is described as "a prodigy with the sword," "learns philosophy and history," etc.), his composed demeanor, mature thinking from a young age—especially when being bullied, lacking his father's attention and responsibility, having only his mother to rely on, and carrying the entire Green team while only in his teens—are all crystal clear and many have already talked about these qualities. Yet you guys still deliberately compare Daemon to a teenage boy in combat skills and don't realize how foolish that is.

His military capability, knowledge, and strategic acumen are also no joke as Prince Regent (I hear the books mention this, though the show focuses more on sword skills; Reddit has discussions about Aemond's strategic mind).

Even funnier is that you guys take Aemond's line "without Vhagar I'm nothing" to measure his worth, without understanding that deep down this character's psychology is rooted in insecurity and a desire for recognition, so he's used other people's yardstick (having a dragon) as his own measure of self-worth. In other words, Aemond himself undervalues himself, even though he has so many admirable qualities. Aemond could have easily been like Ulf—chosen by a dragon and then coasting on its power without self-improvement—that would truly be "without a dragon, I'm nothing."

Then you bring up Aemond's revenge to attack him as violent and crazy. Honestly, if you were bullied 1v4 just for being the chosen one, lost an eye, had your father side with the bullies, had only your mother defend you, then had to comfort your mother and yourself with a single line (still aura-farming), and on top of that, had your own brother join in on the bullying—not just as kids but even as adults—could you forgive? And then the mommy issues too? Like what do you expect? Compared to falling into vice or becoming a deadbeat kid, this is pretty mild. He single-handedly leads troops into battle while his brother stays home drinking and womanizing, his sister doesn't care about her family's safety despite having a whole dragon, and his mother sells out both her sons to the enemy :))))) I'm not saying his actions are right, but the nature and motives are understandable and are absolutely not a valid reason to look down on this character. Not to mention Aemond is a second son, with no inheritance rights by law, so everything he wants he has to earn himself, which is valid (similar to Daemon in that regard, but the uncle prefers freedom over being king, which is also valid). Same with respect—it's not given, it's earned. You call the Greens hypocrites, but you're no less hypocritical yourselves.

As for the Iron Throne, setting aside tradition and law (because the Blacks will just cry sexism), even though Aegon is the legitimate heir by tradition, in terms of capability and worthiness, Aemond is the most suitable king—crazy enough to rule but not crazy enough to let the realm decay. So even without male preference, I'll say it outright: your Rhaenyra doesn't stand a chance, except as a spoiled daddy's girl. The recent episodes are the clearest proof of her incompetence. Remember Tywin's words to Cersei: "I don't mistrust you because you're a woman, I mistrust you because you're not as smart as you think you are."

Aemond, in the eyes of both modern and ancient standards, meets the criteria to be king—relying on himself, not on promises or tradition. He's the character built most like a real person, with real trauma and distortion, but few real people are actually that strong.

“If they argue about legitimacy”: a lot of you are saying "what law says Aegon is the legitimate heir?"—well, let me tell you straight: the whole of Westeros for hundreds of years has prioritized sons in inheritance. Everyone knew from the start that if Aegon was born, Rhaenyra's "claim" to the Iron Throne would be threatened, and the lords wouldn't accept it either. You still can't accept that your queen is a spoiled daddy's girl who doesn't deserve it in either character or capability. If you want to blame someone, blame Viserys for being as stupid as you lot—why was he so eager to take a second wife and father sons? Just go ahead and name your queen, and she'd still get torn apart by other houses even without Aegon or Aemond—all thanks to that "law" of yours.
