Moving to LA, is Santa Monica boring now?

30M moving from Texas, working remote in LA. Friends have mentioned Santa Monica, Culver City, Los Feliz, and Silverlake, Venice (seems like too many homeless?). I just want somewhere safe that has young people and fun stuff (pickleball, some local hangouts to grab a drink) to do, debating between Santa Monica and Culver City at the moment but which neighborhood would you say has more going on?
