Has keeping your phone out of the bedroom actually improved your sleep?
I’m a physician who works with trauma, stress and the nervous system and one simple change I often recommend is keeping the phone out of the bedroom.
For many people, it’s the last thing they see at night and the first thing they reach for in the morning. When it stays beside the bed, checking messages, news or social media can become almost automatic.
Using a basic alarm clock and charging the phone in another room changes the environment instead of depending on willpower.
A few practical things that may help are setting a fixed cutoff time, keeping a notebook near the bed for reminders and avoiding replacing phone scrolling with another screen.
From a stress and sleep perspective, the bedroom should be a place where stimulation drops.
Has anyone here tried this consistently and did it improve your sleep or morning routine?
