When to hit (and avoid) ski resort Kitzbühel in 2026/27 ⛷️📊
I’ve been digging through our data for the upcoming 2026/27 season to show you when you’ll have the slopes in Kitzbühel almost to yourself—and when you should definitely stay away if you hate mass tourism.
Let’s start with the absolute peak rush times. Unsurprisingly, the busiest period centers around the Christmas holidays. The single most crowded week of the entire season is CW 52 (Dec 21–Dec 27, 2026) with a maximum Score of 100, closely followed by New Year's week in CW 53 (Dec 28, 2026–Jan 3, 2027) with a Score of 99. Schools and businesses across Europe are closed, making it insanely hectic.
Rounding out the top three busiest periods is CW 3 (Jan 18–Jan 24, 2027) with a Score of 83. During this week, Kitzbühel turns completely upside down for the legendary Hahnenkamm races—unless you're specifically traveling for the World Cup event and the parties, you should strictly avoid this week if you just want to ski.
On the flip side, if you want to carve in peace and hunt for empty slopes, you should aim for the very end of the season. By far the quietest week is CW 17 (Apr 26–May 2, 2027) with a tiny Score of just 18. Sure, it’s late spring, but it's a genuine hidden gem for spring-snow (firn) lovers.
Almost as empty and relaxed are the weeks right before it: CW 16 (Apr 19–Apr 25, 2027) with a Score of 30, and CW 15 (Apr 12–Apr 18, 2027) sitting at 31. As soon as the Easter holidays end, the crowds drop off a cliff, leaving you with the remaining open runs almost entirely to yourself.
