AITA for leaving my boyfriend at the airport?

I (23F) was supposed to pick up my boyfriend (25M) after his flight got in at 8 PM. I drove 45 minutes to reach the airport.

When I let him know I was there, he replied that he was "almost outside." I waited for nearly an hour, but after he stopped answering my texts, I decided to leave since I had to work early the next morning.

About 20 minutes later, he called to say his phone had died and that he had actually been waiting outside. He ended up paying $90 for an Uber and now says I left him stranded.

I feel like he should have had a backup plan or figured out a way to let me know. Our friends are divided on this.
