Prolonged bleeding on Implanon - did Evening Primrose Oil help or make it worse?
I've had the Implanon implant since 2024. When I first got it, I didn't have a period at all for about 6 months. After that, my periods became fairly regular.
Towards the end of 2025, I started having episodes where I'd bleed for months at a time, then it would go back to normal again. In June this year, I had a period that lasted about 8 days. Then I started bleeding again on 14 July, and I'm still bleeding now.
By around 21 July, I'd had enough, so I started looking on Reddit for ways to stop the bleeding. I came across a lot of people recommending Evening Primrose Oil (EPO).
I've been taking EPO since 25 July (3 x 1000 mg capsules per day, as directed on the bottle). The problem is, I'm not sure if it's actually helping or if it's making the bleeding last longer or heavier.
I'm hoping to get the bleeding to stop within the next two weeks, so I'm wondering if I should stop taking the EPO and see if that helps, or if I should keep taking it for a bit longer.
Has anyone else experienced prolonged bleeding with the Implanon? Did EPO help you at all, or did it make things worse? I'm also open to any other suggestions for stopping the bleeding that don't involve going on the pill, as I'd prefer to avoid that if possible.
I'd really appreciate hearing what worked (or didn't work) for anyone who's been through something similar
