Managing expectations

Personal Experience

The doctor seems to think I (21f) have adhd from the symptoms I’ve explained. I pretty much already know I have it because I was almost diagnosed with adhd as a child and my dad (raging undiagnosed adhd) said they were wrong cuz I’m just like him… anyways I’ve had to fill out a couple assessments and had a friend fill one out about me at the doctors request. She also wanted me to get an ecg and bloodwork before my next appointment on Thursday. I’m pretty sure this will be the appointment where they decide to either give me a prescription or not.. If I do get the meds I’m expecting them to entirely change my life like showering everyday, being able to finish my work day before 2 am, saving tons of money on Ubers because I will have the time skills to get the bus on time, brushing my teeth everyday, doing laundry once a week, doing adult things I’ve neglected like taxes and drivers license. I fear I might need someone to manage my expectations. Like is it really that magical or will it be more subtle than what I’m describing?
