Possible ear infection

I think I may have an ear infection. Never had an ear infection so I have no clue what it's like. My right ear has been hurting for a couple weeks. It feels kind of wet sometimes. It hurts when I chew. I had some flu like symptoms, runny nose, mild coughing about a month now.

What are the do and don't when you have an ear infection?

Should I avoid all the types of headphones until fully healed? Or just on that ear?

Should I avoid sleeping on that side?
