I'm really scared of, and indecisive about, ending things with early dating partner. Would love perspective.
I (M29) have been on three dates with a girl (F29) over the last three-four weeks. I'm not used to dating and as a neurodivergent person I find it hard to know proper etiquette and shoulda/should nots. She's also neurodivergent.
This situation is new to me. This girl became intense quite quickly (not necessarily in a bad way). Wanting to phonecall every day, complimenting me, talking about signs indicating we are meant to be together, and now, talking about becoming a relationship. She's very kind and understanding and I love her confidence and enthusiasm.
For some reason it's just not clicking for me though. I don't seem to feel the same level of excitement. It's frustrating because there are no red flags here or negative traits - she's lovely. And she is interested in me. So why isn't my heart in it?
Ive agonised over what to do for about a week and a half. She's wanting a fourth date tomorrow and a phonecall tonight I think she's going to suggest we become an item. I can't stretch this out any longer.
I feel absolutely awful about ending things. I figure it should be via a phonecall, perhaps tonight. I don't know what to even say. I don't have any good explanation. I'm terrified about hurting her. I just went to hide away from it all.
I'd really appreciate any advice about this, or your own stories. I know I'm nearly 30 but honestly this all feels really new and scary to me. I'm not used to having to reject others. It feels so cruel. Is this normal for dating? Is this how it usually goes?
