I built a marketing system for my own countertop shop. I'm thinking about selling it to other shops and I'd like you to tell me why it won't work.

Context first so nobody thinks I'm hiding it: I'm not a fabricator. I run the marketing for a countertop shop in Calgary, and I built all of this for that one shop. It's my own operation, not a client I can point to. I'm now thinking about selling the same setup to other shops, and I'd rather hear the holes in it from you than find them with someone else's money.

What it is: a one page site, Meta ads I build and manage, a tool that renders a homeowner's own kitchen in the stone they picked before they ever call, and a bot that texts every new lead back within a few minutes, qualifies them, and books the measure. Everything lands on one board so nothing gets lost.

What it did at that shop last month: 61 leads, 12 measures booked, 9 jobs closed, about $30 a lead. Average closed job around $2,300.

What I'm not going to pretend: that's one shop, one month, and it's my own shop, so it's the friendliest possible test. I have no outside customers. I haven't launched.

What I actually want from people who cut stone for a living:

  1. Is $30 a lead good in your market, or am I impressed by a number that's just normal?

  2. Would you ever hand lead follow-up to a bot, or is that the part you'd never give up?

  3. What breaks first when a shop goes from 15 leads a month to 60? I assume measure scheduling, but I've only watched one shop go through it.

  4. What's the real reason you'd say no to something like this?

Happy to go into detail on the ad setup or the numbers. Not linking anything and not selling anything here.

Thanks 🙏
