Why are indoor sports in Pakistan either expensive or inaccessible?
I’ve recently been trying to become more physically active, but joining a gym gets boring after a while. I thought badminton, futsal, table tennis or even padel would be a better way to exercise and meet people.
The problem is that decent indoor sports facilities seem surprisingly difficult to access. Some places require memberships, others are located inside private clubs, and the newer courts charge amounts that only make sense when you already have a full group to split the cost with.
Padel courts are opening everywhere, but why don’t we have more affordable multi-sport centres where people can simply book a badminton, futsal or basketball court by the hour? It would also be helpful to have open sessions where beginners can join without already knowing four or five players.
There also seems to be a shortage of safe and comfortable options for women and families, especially outside the more expensive areas of major cities.
What is the indoor sports situation like in your city? Which sport do you play, how much do you normally pay, and how do you find people to play with?
